Yesterday one of my blog readers asked me a question via Contact Form. He asked me:
Why my blog traffic going down and how can i recover my blog traffic?
My blog traffic was increasing day by day but after October 5 I have lost over 90% of my blog traffic from search engines. Now i have only 30 to 40 visitor per day. I have checked my Google Webmaster tools but there’s no manual spam action found. Can you please explain why my blog traffic going down day by day and How can I recover my blog traffic?
That’s the mail I got yesterday from Shuvas, India. I have hidden the blog URL for his privacy.
After read the mail I thought it would be great idea to share the answer to my blog post to make the answer for the world. because most of us already experience this kind of traffic drop. Actually there are lots of reason your blog traffic going down day by day. Actually your traffic going down for Google’s algorithm penalty. Do you know the last date of Google Penguin update? Most of us already know that, but you may don’t know; that’s why you asked me the question. The last Google penguin update happened at October 4 and you experienced traffic drop to your blog at October 5, so I think your blog is affected by Google Penguin 2.1.
Google’s Matt Cutts says Penguin 2.1 affects 1% of searches…
Penguin 2.1 launching today. Affects ~1% of searches to a noticeable degree. More info on Penguin: http://t.co/4YSh4sfZQj

How To Recover Blog Traffic
Don’t worry you can recover your blog traffic but first you have to get rid from penguin. I have checked your (Shuvas) blog and found lots of reason to get affected by Google penguin. Below I have tried to listed major of these:
- Black Hat SEO
- Too many unnatural (Spammy) links pointing to your blog
- You are passing backlinks on unnatural sites on your blogroll section
- Most of your blog content is over optimized
I have found lots of problems on your blog but above these is the major and hope that’s the reason your blog is affected by Google penguin 2.1 and you are experiencing blog traffic drop.
In order to recover your blog traffic and get rid from Google penguin you must solve these issue.
Must Do: You should use Open Site Explorer to find out all unnatural links and remove these manually. If you failed to remove then contact with the administrator and ask them to remove your link. There’s one more effective ways you can get rid from unnatural links, That is Google Disavow tools. But I never suggest Google Disavow tool for newcomers coz, Google says:
This is an advanced feature and should only be used with caution. If used incorrectly, this feature can potentially harm your site’s performance in Google’s search results. We recommend that you disavow backlinks only if you believe you have a considerable number of spammy, artificial, or low-quality links pointing to your site, and if you are confident that the links are causing issues for you. In most cases, Google can assess which links to trust without additional guidance, so most normal or typical sites will not need to use this tool.
So use this tool at your own risk.
